Review: Evenflo Exersaucer Jumper

The Evenflo Exersaucer Jumper, shown here in “Safari” or “Safari Friends,” is one of my daughter’s favorite places to be.

To be completely transparent, this thing is the only reason I’ve been able to go to the bathroom by myself for the last six months. We read up on all the bouncers available and chose this one because it seemed sturdy, it’s customizable, it’s easy to clean and we thought it looked like it would be fun. Honestly, if they had this in adult sizes, I would take a go at it.

Our baby loves to play in her Evenflo Exersaucer and can entertain herself for a good little while in there for those essential food and bathroom breaks. My only complaint is that it’s fairly heavy, so if you do want to keep it nearby/in sight while you do those things, it’s kind of an ordeal. It just barely fits through doorways. That said, the substantiality of it was part of why we picked it. It feels strong and safe and will likely withstand all the bouncing she can do.

We believe that bouncing helped our daughter learn, over time, to flatten her feet on the floor, and we’re sure it has strengthened her legs. She’s just about to be an early walker, and all the time upright can only have helped.

We always make sure we balance her use of the Exersaucer with floor time, as we’ve heard babies can get hip dysplasia from repeated use of this type of toy without the chance to work out muscles on the floor. (And there ends the extent of my knowledge on that subject.)

I tell everyone I know who is having a baby to get one of these, provided they have the room, as it does take up a good amount of floor space. There is nothing on this toy that hasn’t been in my daughter’s mouth. Sometimes I hear the songs it plays in my mind when I’m trying to fall asleep. This is how we live now.
